Nobel Prize winning Mathematician John Forbes Nash, Jr. died in a car crash yesterday. Russell Crowe portrait John Nash in the Academy Award winning movie A Beautiful Mind. According to NJ.com, 86-year-old John Nash and his 82-year-old wife have been killed in a car crash on Saturday, /4/23 on the New Jersey Turnpike.
The couple have been in a taxi whose driver lost control when he tried to pass a car in the center lane. The taxi crashed into a guard rail near Interchange 8A in Monroe Township, according to State Police Sgt. Gregory Williams.
Russell Crowe took to Twitter and said: “Stunned…my heart goes out to John & Alicia & family. An amazing partnership. Beautiful minds, beautiful hearts.”

John Nash was born in 1928. His work in game theory, differential geometry, and partial differential equations have revealed new insights into chance and events inside complex systems in our daily life. In 1959, Nash was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia and was committed to a number of psychiatric hospitals for treatment. After 1970, Nash was able to better control his mental illness and continue with his academic work. His remarkable life became the stuff Hollywood movies are made off.
A Beautiful Mind is a 2001 American biographical drama film based on the life of John Nash, a Nobel Laureate in Economics. The film was directed by Ron Howard and starred Russell Crowe, along with Ed Harris, Jennifer Connelly, Paul Bettany, Adam Goldberg, Judd Hirsch, Josh Lucas, Anthony Rapp, and Christopher Plummer in supporting roles. The movie opened in the United States cinemas in December of 2001. The movie A Beautiful Mind won four Academy Awards, for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress.
