New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady plans to give his Super Bowl XLIX truck, a 2015 Chevy Colorado, to undrafted rookie Malcolm Butler, who had the game-sealing interception against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday to give the Patriots their fourth Super Bowl title.

Butler had the game-sealing interception with 20 seconds left in Super Bowl XLIX against the Seattle Seahawks to assure New England of its fourth Super Bowl title, 28-24. Brady told WEEI’s Jerry Spar on Feb. 3 on how his emotions changed from disappointed after Seahawks wide receiver Jermaine Kearse made a phenomenal juggling catch near the Patriots’ goal line to ecstatic when Butler picked off Seattle quarterback Russell Wilson:

“I couldn’t believe [Kearse] caught it. I watched the play and when I saw the deflection and I thought it was incomplete so I turned by back pretty quick. And then somehow people were still cheering. I turned around and I saw the refs going to signal a catch. I really couldn’t see what happened. I looked up on the big screen and I saw the catch and I just shook my head. I said,’You’ve got to be kidding me.’

“And then they gave it to Marshawn [Lynch] on whatever, first down. And then it was second down. And then it all happened so quick. The clock was running. I was like,’Are we going to call timeout? What are we going to do? We chose not to. There was obviously a great reason why we didn’t. Malcolm came up with the play of our season.

“It was very quick how all that stuff transpired. And that’s football. We’ve been on the other end of that. Things that would happen once every 10 years happened against us. So it’s nice that it actually goes our way.”

Brady then praises Butler and talks about giving him his 2015 Chevy Colorado, per Spar:

“A guy like Malcolm who makes that type of instinctive, quick play, that’s one of his strong suits. I don’t think it surprised any of us players, because that’s really what his skill set is. A lot of people don’t get to see that over the course of the season.

“It comes off as a great play, which it really was, obviously the biggest game of the year. Someone had to make a play. It happend to Malcolm.

“I would love to give him the truck. I would love to do that. I’m going to figure out how to make that work.”

Brady, one of the subjects of DeflateGate, poured out his emotions to Spar regarding the scandal:

“The people that /4/be critical, everybody has an opinion and that’s their right. If they want to believe whatever they want to believe, that’s their choice. That’s OK with me.

“I’m a human being, so you have  a lot of emotions just like everybody else. I am who I am, and I’m very proud of who I am. It’s just how I choose to live my life. Like I said, the most important thing is how the people who know me feel about me. A lof of people that /4/be critical at times don’t know me — or /4/be positive at times. There’s a lot of people that — truthfully over the course of my career I’ve never had anyone say something bad about me. I’ve been very fortunate and blessed to be able to have that.”

Meanwhile, Brady’s teammate and Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski told ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” (via Yahoo Sports’ Eric Edholm) on Monday that he wasn’t about to back down during the end-game skirmish with the Seahawks during Super Bowl XLIX. Gronkowski told Kimmel he threw “some haymakers”:

“I got pushed or something, and it was the last game of the year and I was like,’Screw it, I’m throwing some haymakers. They just started coming at us. We were just trying to take a knee. [It] just happens; it’s football. Just emotions [some] going. It’s football, things happen.

“It’s all good. I mean, it’s all good. They played ball, they’re a hardworking team, and we just came out and did what we did to get the win.”
