Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is a rugged high-end Android phone available only at AT&T

After what one could even assume to be one of the worst kept secrets in the smartphone industry, the Samsung Galaxy S6 active was finally made official. The smartphone which had already shown itself in numerous leaks in the past was unveiled by AT&T and the rugged version of the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be an AT&T exclusive too. Running down on the specs reveals that hardware has mostly remained unchanged.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active offers a 5.1 inch QHD AMOLED display, an Exynos 7420 chipset and even shares the same 16 MP main camera coupled with the 5 MP front facing camera. The battery department has witnessed a welcome change with the Samsung Galaxy S6 active featuring a 3500mAh battery which is almost a 40% increase in capacity as compared to the original Samsung Galaxy S6. It also retains the built-in wireless charging capabilities.

Same as the case with the original Samsung Galaxy S6, the rugged version also skips out on the microSD card slot meaning that you are limited to the 32GB internal storage. Samsung Galaxy S6 Active, as the name implies, adds an IP68 and Mil-STD-810G-certified protection to the mix which allows users to submerge the handset to up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes. Furthermore, the rugged profile offers it thermal and shock protection. Oh, and its completely dust-proof too.
