The broadcast of footage of Vladimir Putin meeting Supreme Court chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev on Friday was not enough to end Putin rumors.
The last time Russian President Vladimir Putin was seen in public was on March 5. He met with Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during a joint press conference following their meeting at the Kremlin in Moscow. See photo above. After that Putin disappeared completely. He surfaced on Friday on Russian TV. A short video showed Vladimir Putin meeting Supreme Court chairman Vyacheslav Lebedev in his residence near Moscow.

The Kremlin did such deceptive moves in the past, so the video is not enough to proof that Putin is in good health. This meeting could have taken place anytime. The Kremlin also had a spokesperson deny any health issues of Putin. He is in good health and is just busy with meetings behind closed doors. The broadcast fell on the same day as reports from Switzerland surfaced that Putin’s unofficial girlfriend Alina Kabaeva has given birth in the Swiss hospital Clinica Sant’Anna, which is a favorite with rich Russians.
According to Swiss Corriere Del Ticino, Putin’s new baby is a girl. The same report though also claims that this happened already a couple weeks ago and is not related to Putin’s disappearance.
Alina Kabaeva has also not been seen in public, which fuels the baby story. Alina Kabaeva is a former highly decorated rhythmic gymnast. She has won two Olympic medals and after her sports career she was a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party. Since September 2014 she is the chairwoman of the board of directors of the National Media Group (NMG). She has clearly has personal ties to Putin, but it is not officially known how close they are. Back in 2008 she was even rumored to be engaged to Putin.

The baby story is not the only rumor that got sparked by the disappearance of Putin. The health related ones dominate. The only way these rumors end is when Vladimir Putin appears in public. He is scheduled to meet Almazbek Atambayev, the President of Kyrgyzstan, in Saint Petersburg on Monday. If Putin shows up the rumors will end and we will never know what he did the past two weeks. It sure was not shirtless horseback riding, because we would have seen photos of that.
