YouTube apps to stop working on older devices

From /4/onward YouTube apps will discontinue from obsolete devices as well as older Apple TV

YouTube has decided that it is finally time to move forward. The world as we know today is only welcoming towards those who accept and move towards change. According to YouTube some devices have become too obsolete for its services and the best way to move forward is to let go of older things and hence in a recent announcement YouTube has revealed that certain ‘select’ devices which were made prior to during or before 2012 would no longer support special-made YouTube apps.

YouTube revealed further details in a notice which caught MacRumors’ attention and here is list of all the possible devices which YouTube must be bidding goodbye to;

• older TVs and Blu-ray disc players from Sony and Panasonic

• Google TV devices running version 3 or 4

• game consoles not supporting Adobe Flash or HTML5

• iOS devices running anything less than iOS 7

• surprisingly even the second-generation Apple TV

(As for the Apple TV, users will be required to start videos on their iPhones, iPods, and iPads then stream them using AirPlay.)

Things don’t seem to be so great for those who haven’t recently purchased any solid streaming device and if any of your older devices was for video streaming solely then its time to upgrade and bid farewell to it.

The good news is that all of this isn’t happening all of a sudden. Of course the company doesn’t want to be responsible for any shocks you get and this explains why it chose the gradual way out. Your apps are going to be working fine for the rest of the month but every time you access them you will be shown a discontinuation video. Next month you will only see the discontinuation vides and by /4/your apps will be blocked completely.
