Nixie Camera Drone
This is just awesome. Nixie is a wrist band that turns into a flying camera drone when activated that takes selfies to the next level.
Nixie is a new exciting project that is right now a finalist in the Intel wearable technologies competition. The grand prize is $500,000. Stanford researcher Christoph Kohstall came up with the idea of wrist drone that takes selfies when activated, He works with project manager Jelena Jovanovic, and team member Michael Niedermayr to make the concept a reality.
The idea is that the wrist drone flies off activated via a gesture. It would know where you are and take a photo and then return to your wrist. The team around Kohstall has developed a prototype that wraps around your wrist and when you take it off its a quad-copter that can fly. The idea is awesome, but of course the are big challenges to make this a real product. Winning the $500,000 might to give this idea enough push to make it to the market.
