Xiaomi products will be sold on Amazon India and Snapdeal
Xiaomi’s stronghold is no longer just limited to its Chinese markets. The company is spreading its wings in the welcoming Indian market and has announced the availability of its Mi devices on major two e-commerce sites of India along with other offline retailers. The company’s entrance into the country was initiated by a joint retail partnership with Flipkart and it got a pretty amazing response as it managed to sell millions of devices within the first five months. This gives the company enough reason to increase its customer base and further pave the way for increased sales.
Manu Jain, the head of Xiaomi India, says that the devices will be available from all 800 outlets of The Mobile Store and also from the operator Airtel. On the other hand, Hugo Barra, the company’s head of international, says that Indian customers will be able to purchase Xiaomi products from Amazon India and Snapdeal which are the biggest online retailers in the country.
In further attempts to drive sales, the company no longer requires users to pre-register for its flash sales. This was quite a hectic procedure for the users but this was in place to ensure that the company sells the stock which it actually holds. Now that the company has dropped this requirement, we suspect that it has enough room for more allocations of phones.
These strategies are quite the opposite to what the company is following in its home region China where it controls its own online sales pipeline. But the brand hasn’t really made that mark yet in India and this explains why it needs the support of external retailers which the public already has trust in.
