Don’t get your hopes too high yet for a 12.9-inch iPad.
12.9-Inch iPad Rumored to be Delayed
Bigger. That could be Apple‘s strategy this year. The company already unveiled its 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus – a move that could eventually hurt Samsung and other Android device manufacturers. The same trend could be seen in the company’s iPad line-up.
It’s already been rumored that Apple is working on a 12.9-inch iPad that could dabble both iOS and OS X – a true productivity beast. But as Apple’s iPad event draws near, suppliers are reportedly pushing back the production of larger-screen tablets to early next year, in a bid to meet the strong demand for Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.
According to the Wall Street Journal, suppliers were planning to mass-produce the larger iPad display in December, but had to postpone the production because of the overwhelming demand for the larger screen iPhones.
“The top priority for the supply chain is to meet the overwhelming demand for the larger screen iPhones. The output of the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus remains unsatisfactory,” a supplier who asked not to be named tells the Wall Street Journal. “It would be challenging for display makers to split resources and spend a few months to ramp up production for a new larger screen iPad now.”
Apple did not comment on the report.
