Corvette Z06 details surface, and it’s awesome
The 2015 corvette Z06 has been unveiled at the Detroit auto show and the car looks like a beast. It has a number of aerodynamic enhancements that are designed to set it apart visually and help improve aerodynamics.
Jalopnik reports the engine is a supercharged LT4 V8 engine producing over 625hp and 635 pound-foot of torque. Chevy is holding back on some of the specs and details on the car. We don’t get any performance numbers just yet. It’s also unclear how much the car will cost.
Considering the new Chevy Camaro Z/28 starts at $75,000 I’d bet the Z06 will start at over that price. The new Z06 will be offered in three trim levels. The top of the line will be called the Z07. The car will also have a removable roof panel. The Z06 will be offered with a manual transmission.
The other transmission option is a 8-speed automatic with a torque converter and paddle shifters. That is disappointing as a car like this really deserves a dual clutch transmission like other sport scars of the caliber get. Who knows, perhaps the auto will work just as well as a dual clutch box, but I sort of doubt it.
