General Motors has released teasers for the new 2016 Camaro. GM focused on dramatically improving the aerodynamics of the new Camaro.
There is a new Camaro coming this weekend. GM has released teaser images and some details fans of the Camaro can expect to find in the 2016 Camaro. General Motors engineers spent 350 hours on wind tunneling testing to reduce aerodynamic lift by 30%, while also reducing aerodynamic drag.
“The importance of aerodynamics increases exponentially as we increase vehicle performance,” said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager. “As engine output increases, we need more engine cooling. As acceleration and top speeds climb, we need to reduce lift for better high-speed stability. However, we cannot make any changes at the expense of increasing drag, which can hurt fuel economy. To balance these different aerodynamic targets, we tested literally hundreds of changes on the new Camaro, millimeters at a time.”
The 6th generation Camaro will have a more athletic design with complex shapes, which appear to be form-fitted around the mechanical components.
“Our global engineering team is incredibly passionate about Camaro, and they sweated all the details to make Gen 6 the best Camaro we could possibly put into the hands of our customers,” said Mark Reuss, GM executive vice president, Global Product Development.
Fans cannot yet see the new 2016 Camaro, but hear it roar.
Chevrolet will unveil the all-new, 2016 Camaro on Saturday, /4/16, during a special public event at Detroit’s Belle Isle Park.
