The actor will front a scent campaign for the first time in his career
“Pirates of the Caribbean” star Johnny Depp has been tapped as the ambassador of Dior’s upcoming men’s fragrance, the legendary beauty powerhouse officially announced it on Wednesday.
It’s going to be Johnny Depp’s first fragrance campaign ever. Probably, he is following the footsteps of fellow actor Brad Pitt who campaigned for Channel No. 5’s signature fragrance back in 2012. He was also the first ever man to become the ambassador of that brand.
Now 51-year old Johnny Depp has been chosen by French luxury brand Dior to endorse their new fragrance which will be the first of kind in 10 years. The Depp’s scent is untitled yet but it will be launched worldwide on September 2.
Dior revealed the scent is created by veteran perfumer Francios Demachy, who has crafted Dior Miss and Dior Homme as well. The first ad of the campaign was also revealed which features Johnny Depp in his old signature style: wearing eyeliner, layered necklaces and a bit messy hair, contributing to his overall unkempt looks.
Johnny Depp is working with the same fashion house that has recently signed “Hunger Games” actress Jennifer Lawrence to model their makeup product. Charlize Therone, Natalie Portman, and Rihanna are also the face of various Dior products. Jude Law and Robert Pattinson also modeled for Dior’s perfumes previously.
Johnny Depp is a busy actor as well. His two new films Yoga Hosers and Black Mass are set to release this year while fantasy film ‘Alice Through the Looking Glass’ will hit the theaters in 2016.
