Dale Earnhardt Jr. Enjoys Fun Race with Charles Barkley

With the jackpot prize for the sprint being worth a million dollars, Dale Earnhardt Jr. is not about to give up so soon. Dale also had a fun race with former NBA star Charles Barkley last morning.

Half a month ago, Dale Earnhardt Jr. took a controversial decision that /4/have cost him a lot. But this time around there is pure instinct and no choice-making on his part. 

The Sprint All-Star Race will be a straightforward affair. Earnhardt has already won this speed trip once before some one and a half decade ago. 

“You need to be up front at the last re-start,” said Earnhardt, driver of the No. 88 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet. “Obviously you’re not going to drive through a handful of guys. As late as it gets in the night, at this track, the groove narrows up.”

However, in order to bag a prize this time around he will have to make certain adjustments. It is quite clear that this man of the moment will have to take care of his maneuverability and speed limits. 

He cannot leave anything to chance in his quest to be the best. It will be nighttime so he will have to keep that fact in mind too. The narrow margin he has to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat is just that: a window of opportunity. And it won’t come again and again. 

The adrenaline will be in full swing when the time comes and the cars are all set for the finish line. Each race car driver will have to be charged to the max to succeed. And Dale will be earning his laurels instead of resting on them. 

“You need to be in that top three I think, to have a shot at it,” said Earnhardt. “Unless those guys kind of get bottled up banging on each other and somebody scoots around on the top on the restart real quick, I don’t know that you’re going to have much of a chance at winning the race.”

Each second will count and time will be a relative entity. The competition will be neck and neck. And as for the dangers of high speed driving, they are too obvious to go into. 

The winner’s trophy of one million dollars is a coveted goal for each and every one of the racers. The eyes are on the last lap. 

“What that does do is it makes everything in the first several segments count,” Earnhardt said. “And it makes you really have to hustle in all those segments to get everything you can to give yourself that opportunity to start as high as you can in the last segment. So, the way it’s laid out actually, it really pushes you to work every lap, every single restart, and every opportunity you can seize a position, you want to do it.”

Dale agrees with the statement that the aggression will be stepped up due to the cherished objective which is a lot of money. If Dale acts decisively all that cash will go straight into his pocket down to the last cent. 

“If you can reach out and grab somebody you will get pretty aggressive for a million dollars,” Earnhardt said. “It just depends on if someone is in reach. If a guy jumps out in that last 10 laps and gets a good lead, what can you do and what are you going to be able to do? If you can run a guy down, it’s going to get interesting. I hope that it will be close, unless I am leading, and if we are leading I hope we are leading by a straightaway. Then I hope it’s real boring.”

Meanwhile, Dale Earnhardt Jr. also went to GoPro Motorplex to have a fun race with former NBA star Charles Barkley last morning. “I was really surprised about how nice he was,” Earnhardt Jr. said. “I expected him to be a competitor, a little more aggressive in just his personality in knowing what kind of basketball player he was and the kind of guy he was on the court.”

“He was fiery, and aggressive, and getting in tussles. But he was super nice. He just came in and was just really gracious and has an appreciation for our sport and was just a real nice guy to be around.”
