Jada Pinkett Smith was recently rumored to have injured a colleague actor, Ben McKenzie, on the set of Gotham.

Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, sure has a lean mean machine of a character onscreen in the series titled Gotham. She is the very personification and epitome of evil for evil’s sake on the series and is one very badass villainess.

However, the supposed fact that her onscreen “reel” life somehow entered into her off screen “real” life was cause for concern. Her costar, Ben McKenzie, suffered a serious wound that many thought was due to this lady ninja of sorts.

Last Friday, which by the way was an occasion for McKenzie’s birthday bash, was a time of recuperation for him. He had a nasty laceration on his head and posted a pic of the wound on Instagram.

When the press got in touch with him and asked him if Jada had caused the injury, he at first denied any such thing. But then in an aside he said that it could have happened too.

E! News asked McKenzie on Monday night at the Fox drama’s premiere party: “did Smith cause his injury?” “No!” McKenzie answered with a laugh. “Although, yeah, that could happen, too.”

But it seems that despite rumors to the contrary, Smith wasn’t exactly responsible for Ben’s injury. Rather what happened was something entirely different.

Ben McKenzie captioned above Istagram: “Doc Sherman at New York-Presbyterian, you are a career saver. Thanks for stitching me up nice. Back to work Monday. #gotham”

McKenzie retold the events that led up to his head wound. He first of all acknowledged the fact that he was performing his own stunts and so it was a dangerous job he had assented to unknowingly. According to Ben, he had to force another actor into a pillar when he badly botched the stunt.

While in the first take it went alright, in the second try, it failed miserably and he struck his head on the edge of the pillar leading to a bloody mess.

“Sadly, we know now that I’m doing a lot of my own stunts because I messed it up,” McKenzie said.

“I was doing a fight scene and I had to drive a guy into a concrete pillar. I did it correctly in one take, and then in the second take, I messed it up and caught the edge of it with my head. There was some blood!”

“Happy Birthday to me,”McKenzie wrote in caption above Instagram. “Fight sequence gone awry. Don’t ram your head into concrete pillars kids. #gotham”

Meanwhile, Jada has admitted that she simply could not get enough of exploring the shadow side of her personality on the show. Her character of Fish Mooney is bad through and through.

According to Yahoo! News, 42-year-old actress “stars as new character gang boss Fish Mooney in the origins show set in pre-Batman Gotham City, which is due to air on Channel 5 in mid October.”

She was quite happy playing the role of a morally irreverent soul that couldn’t care two hoots about whether she harms others or arms them.

Jada said, “I have loved it because it gives my shadow a place to play… safely. All that shadow in Jada gets to come out and dive into Fish Mooney and have a life.

“This is my dark side because Fish Mooney doesn’t have to be good all the time, and it’s really fun! She’s a hot-headed little woman and there’s a lot more to come!”

Couple that with the fact that she gets paid in scads for being a kickass babe who is evil to boot…and you have the ideal situation for Jada Pinkett Smith.
