Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner are going to reunite for a Star Trek film after 23 years.

A recent report claims that Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner are going to reunite in a scene of Star Trek 3. According to the Badass Digest, the script of Star Trek 3 has a scene in which fans can see Nimoy and Shatner together.

Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner will reprise their roles as Spock and Captain Kirk in Star Trek 3. Both actors comprise the original main cast of the Star Trek franchise. They were last seen together in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country that was released in 1991.

Leonard Nimoy also directed 1986’s “Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home” while William Shatner directed 1989’s “Star Trek V: The Final Frontier.” Nimoy has been working with the franchise after his first appearance as Spock.

However, William Shatner’s cameo role was dropped in 2009 before the shooting of J.J. Abrams’s “Star Trek” reboot began. However, this time, William Shatner’s scene in Star Trek 3 is said to be “plot-driven and integral enough that it might just survive any future revisions.”

The Star Trek 3 script writer is Roberto Orci who has already written the scripts of the first two reboots. And the new Kirk and Spock are also expected to return in the third reboot version.  Chris Pine will reprise his role of the new Kirk and Zachary Quinto will reprise his role of the new Spock.

The plot of Star Trek 3 has not been announced yet. However, Roberto Orci has already revealed some details about the third reboot. He said that Star Trek 3 will be “closer to the original series characters that you have seen.”

“They have set off on their five-year mission. So their adventure is going to be in deep space. In [‘Star Trek Into Darkness’] they set out finally where the original series started,” Orci continued.

“The first two films – especially the 2009 [‘Star Trek’] – was an original story. It was about them coming together. So they weren’t the characters they were in the original series. They were growing into them and that continues in the second movie.”

Star Trek 3 is slated to launch in 2016. But the exact release date of the film has not yet been revealed. However, the shooting of the film is expected to start soon.

“I think it’s on the horizon,” Zachary Quinto said. And he also said that the early preparations to start filming have begun. And Quinto thinks that Star Trek 3 will go into production within the next six months or so.
