PM Narendra Modi has declared India’s Mars space program called Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) to be successful. It was indeed a moment of great pride for Indians everywhere.

The mission has been accomplished! India’s Mars space program labeled Mangalyaan has been a success. The space probe entered the orbital status around Mars and it was hailed as a big achievement for India.

Exhilarated scientists at the ISRO in Bangalore heard words of encouragement and congratulations from India’s newly elected Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The Mars Orbiter Mission spells out the acronym MOM.

Narendra Modi walked up to the rostrum with a big smile on his face and declared that the very moment in time when this mission was called MOM, he knew in his heart of hearts that it would never fail since moms seldom do.

He also said that they had had the courage to make an outreach for the unknown. And this was not a small deed. “The moment this mission was named MOM, I knew it would not  disappoint. Moms never fail…We dared to reach out to the unknown,” Modi said.

The Prime Minister furthermore said that history had been in the making on this day in time. The impossible had been made possible which was just the beginning of what the future held.

He especially lauded the brave scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) who had made this dream a reality. He also notified them regarding the point that India was the only country to have been able to achieve this Herculean feat on the first attempt.

Modi stated that of the 51 missions that had taken place around the world, only 21 had succeeded so far. However, India was successful at the task and the thing to be proud of was that it was a “Made in India” program.

The PM reminded every Indian that the Mars Mission was a native-built space probe.”We built it indigenously, in a pan-Indian effort, stretching from Bangalore to Bhubhaneshwar, and Faridabad to Rajkot,” he said.

Now India is an official member of the elite Mars Club that includes the United States, Europe and the former USSR. China and Japan had never reached their goals of even coming close to Mars.

The Mangalyaan Mission was constructed in more than a year’s time and it cost 450 Crore Rupees. The rocket will circle Mars and will glean the surface of the Red Planet for any signs of life.
