Paula Patton Officially Files for Divorce from Robin Thicke

Patton and Thicke were high school sweethearts and finally got married in 2005.  After eight years they are now separating due to “irreconcilable differences”. According to an inside source they have been struggling with their marriage for a long time.

Paula Patton filed the papers on 3rd October, and has asked for a joint custody of Julian Fuego. Their son is 4 years old, and they both want him to be a part of their life.

In an interview with PEOPLE magazine they couple said they will always love each other and be best friends. However, they have decided to go their separate ways in order to find happiness. This was in February when the couple first announced their split.

The split came after Thicke’s VMA performance with Miley Cyrus in 2013. There was a rumor that he had cheated on Patton. After the show, a few pictures went viral in which Robin was snapped grabbing another woman’s butt.

Thicke went to great lengths to get Patton back and he even cried on stage at the BET Awards in June. Before his performance he dedicated the song to his wife, and told her that he missed her and he was sorry. 

This was not the only apology. A month after their separation there were numerous public apologies. He even released an album titled “Paula” in her honor.

Thicke admitted his drug and alcohol problem and he believes that is why Patton left him. In April during a deposition for a different legal matter Thicke said, “The reason she left is because I told her the truth.”

In May, Patton told Vanity Fair that there will always be love between them. They have been in love since they were 14, and that kind of love lasts. An inside source confirms that things between Patton and Thicke are peaceful.

Thicke admitted publicly that he was at a loss when it comes to winning her back in July. He said on Good Morning America that he had no idea what he should do, and what he was doing.

According to TMZ, Patton is seeking a legal joint and physical custody of their son Julian. They said their divorce is harmonious and they are both happy with this decision.
