Dear White People is a satire about race from Justin Simien that already scored Winner of Best Picture in the San Francisco Film Festival and Winner of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival’s Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Talent.

The indie movie is about the lives of four black students at an Ivy League college. Dear White People is a provocative satire of race relations in the age of Obama. Writer/director Justin Simien follows a group of African American students as they navigate campus life and racial politics at a predominantly white college.

An ill-conceived theme of the annual Halloween party is at the center of the story. Watch the trailer below.

Justin Simien started to write the script back in 2012 when he still was student. According to Wikipedia, Simien started out with a trailer raising seed money on Indiegogo.

Dear White People stars Tyler James Williams, Tessa Thompson, Teyonah Parris, Brandon P Bell, Kyle Gallner, Brittany Curran, Marque Richardson and Dennis Haysbert.
