Retailer brace yourself for a huge Black Friday 2014. According to a new survey by management consulting firm Accenture, Black Friday shopping hits eight year peak. In addition consumers are more optimistic about their personal finances this year.
The survey also found consumer enthusiasm for Black Friday shopping has reached its highest level in eight years. Two-thirds of respondents (66%) said they are likely to shop on Black Friday, compared to 55% who planned to do so in 2013 and 44% who said the same back in 2007.
37% of consumers plan to shop Black Friday online. This is up 5% from last year. This tough means that the online Black Friday has still a lot of room to grow. Consumers also adopt to the earlier Black Friday opening hours on Thanksgiving Day. 45% say to shop Black Friday on Thanksgiving Day. This number is up 7%. Of those consumers planning to shop on the holiday, 47 percent said that they will be shopping in a physical store between 6 PM Thanksgiving Day and 5 AM on Black Friday.
The survey results also suggest that consumers wil spend more during the Holiday shopping season, but are very focused on discounts and sales.
