Apple confirms Downward Trend in iTunes Digital Music Downloads

Apple Incorporated has shown a downward trend in the sales of its iTunes digital music downloads.

Recently, Apple let others on to a fact that is rather dismal in its implications. Its iTunes downloads sales were down by a large percentage. The fact was quite clearly stated in the annual report of Apple. 

The sales of downloads in iTunes were dependent upon app sales which in turn showed iOS growth figures. The lowering of sales of digital music was the crux of the matter. It doesn’t come as shocking news. 

Other music services such as Spotify and Pandora are growing by leaps and bounds. During the first half of the current year, sales of digital music fell by 11% and 14%. Streaming music services on the other hand increased by 28%. 

Apple has taken quite a punch to the gut for now at least. In fact, word is out that Apple acquired Beats Records due to this selfsame problem. 

Apple’s Tim Cook was probably cosying up to Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine so as to get the right people in the music industry on his side. It was around the same time when iTunes was in trouble that Tim Cook began to send out feelers to these two gentlemen. 

As for his views on the matter, Tim said that both Dre and Iovine were unique individuals who were like one in a million. You do not find such great talents in the common run of the mill people, said Cook. But the real story behind the façade remains hidden from view. 

Apple probably needs all the help and support it can get from the likes of such highly skilled musicians and businessmen. They are after all the top cats and, though they started as underdogs, they have made it big in the industry that is known for its cutthroat competition and quick turnover rate. 

Tim Cook is a smart cookie and knows what lies in his corporation’s interests. That is why he is using the apple-polishing techniques to win over such organizations as Beats Records and their bosses over to his side. They can only benefit Apple in the long run.
