The AC/DC drummer is going to be a happy man after charges were dropped against him just one day after being charged with hiring an assassin to kill two men.
AC/DC fans must be thanking their lucky stars as Phil Rudd was released by the police. His house was raided just a day ago and Phil Rudd was arrested. The police arrested him on suspicion of hiring a hitman that killed two men. The police now has the information about the hitman. Phil Rudd was also charged with possession of cannabis and meth.
The charges were dropped against Phil Rudd after there was insufficient evidence against the AC/DC drummer. Phil’s lawyer believes that charges for procuring murder should have never been attempted. He gave a statement in which he said that the charges against the drummer have now been withdrawn and he is free to leave.
His lawyer also said that the charges have made him look like a bad person and it was extremely damaging publicity. Phil Rudd was charged with possession of cannabis and meth and will return to the court according to the police. The “procuring murder” charges were dropped but the threatening to kill a complainant and possession of drugs are still there.
Rudd’s lawyer said that the most serious charge was withdrawn and it was confirmed by the prosecutor in Tauranga District Court. New Zealand has almost the same laws that are practiced in the UK. People are still confused why the procuring murder charge was brought forward in the first place and then why it was withdrawn just a day after.
The police brought forward the charges. After the charges were taken to the prosecutor, he said that because there is insufficient evidence, they cannot charge Phil Rudd of procuring murder. When asked about the U-turn /1//10//11//12/Fulstow who is a spokeswoman said that it is a matter for the police.
She said that the police doesn’t need to come to the Crown to have permission so that they can charge anyone of anything. She said that the police makes charges on what evidence they have. Police gave a statement in which they said that the Phil Rudd will return to the court on 27th November.
/1//10//11//12/Fulstow said that other charges remain on Phil Rudd and the Crown will look into it. Mabey, Rudd’s lawyer was also speaking to the media and said that the Crown Solicitor called him and said that the evidence wasn’t enough to support the charges and that is why the charges are going to be withdrawn.
He said that Mr. Rudd will defend the possession of drugs charges and the threatening to kill charges. The lawyer said that Rudd suffered incalculable damage. AC/DC fans would be thrilled because now the band will remain together and they could come see them perform at concerts. Their new album is about to be released next month.
