Yahoo has made an acquisition in the form of the virtual gaming system Cloud Party. Furthermore, it is all set to be shut down after the takeover.
Yahoo has outdone itself. It is about to make an acquisition in the form of Cloud Party. Cloud Party is a free virtual gaming world experience that is based on virtual reality. Cloud Party team announced the acquisition on Friday via a blog post. It states, “We’re excited to announce that the time has come for the Cloud Party team to start our next adventure. We are joining Yahoo!”
After becoming a part and parcel of Yahoo, Cloud Party will be shut down towards the end of February, 2014. The startup states in blog, “Cloud Party will continue to run until February 21, 2014. We want to support our community during this transition.”
Basically, the exciting virtual gaming world that was created by a group of MMO and console veterans with a lot of experience under their belts. It bears an uncanny resemblance to Second Life. What is still a moot point is whether the original team that founded the game will be lending their services to Yahoo or heading out for greener pastures. While, Yahoo does have its own arsenal of games, a 3D virtual game is a novelty for the platform.
Under its dynamic and beautiful CEO, Marissa Mayer, Yahoo has made a long shopping list the acquisitions of which it is pursuing to the hilt. Yahoo acquired PlayerScale last year. This setup was catering to over 150 million players spread all over the globe.
In combination with Cloud Party, PlayerScale could up the ante in Yahoo’s repertoire. The Cloud Party team meanwhile has begun the journey on the open road with an open mind. It /4/find itself performing new functions at Yahoo. The future looks a bit precarious but that is the nature of life which has no guarantees in it.
