Both Google and Microsoft have developed a new app for Christmas.
This time of the year is known for Christmas and everyone is eagerly waiting for it. Children especially are very excited around this time of the year and so Microsoft thought of giving everyone a Christmas gift. That is why Microsoft has teamed up with North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) in order to develop their new annual application Santa Tracker website.
For nearly 60 years NORAD Tracks Santa allows millions of people to watch Santa make his annual trip all over the world. However this year the site has been developed as part of the Internet Explorer campaign, which is to rethink or show the people what the web can be. The site features new set of games, improved performance and the feature to track down Santa with the use of Bing Maps.
NORAD has been doing since the tradition was set in 1955 an advertisement company misprinted the telephone number for children to call Santa. Instead the kids got through to CONAD Commander-in-Chief’s operations hotline. It was Colonel Harry Shoup at that time and he had his staff locate Santa and the children who called were given updates.
In 1958 the governments of the United States and Canada set up a joint air defense command ‘NORAD’ and since then NORAD has kept this tradition alive. So this time with Microsoft’s help NORAD has increased the fun of this tradition. Microsoft claims that the website has been built using responsive design and so users will get an optimized and better experience than before, whether they are using PC, tablet or a mobile phone.
If Microsoft is coming up with such a special gift for its users this year than how could Google stay away? Google has also come up with an application ‘Google Santa Tracker’. The app allows people to paly new type of games with new scenarios. Users will experience elves with jetpacks, sleighs powered by rockets and rolling gumballs.

Plus on 24th December users can also follow Santa in his journey around the world. Google’s Santa tracking app is not only catering mobile phones but also PCs and tablets. Google has done a great work with the graphics and the layout of the app.
Google Santa Tracker also provides an earth view with all the famous countries marked and provides users with information about how Christmas is enjoyed in these countries. The app is also equipped with different games every day to keep the users interested in the app.
With all these applications out on the market, users have been provided with an exciting app which will keep them busy this Christmas. Especially for the children these apps are going to be a treat as they can now track, follow and play different games about their most favorite character Santa Claus.
