- Remote Valet Parking Assistant
- Uses laser scanners
- And digital site plan of building
- Finds perfect spot on its own
BMW has just announced the unveil of their fully-automated parking solution for the BMW i3.
From in built car systems to self driving cars, we now have a fully automated Remote Valet Parking Assistant in the BMW i3 research vehicle. The system has been incorporated into the vehicle in such a way that it has the ability to combine the information from the laser scanners with the digital site plan of a building which can even be a multi-storey car park. Welcome to the future as your vehicle independently steers through the levels of the car park after the fully-automated Remote Valet Parking Assistant has been activated from a smartwatch.
Getting late for an appointment and cant find the right spot? Well, all you have to do is activate the system and leave your car in the parking space without any worries because it is going to find its way to the perfect spot all on its own. Are we thinking spooky? It definitely will be for those who see a car being driven on its own.
The Remote Valet Parking Assistant works in a way that it recognizes the structural features of the car park and based on this information, it steers the car safely round any obstacles that appear unexpectedly, even incorrectly parked vehicles. After the BMW i3 has found its perfect spot, it will lock itself there and wait to be called by Smartwatch and voice command. The smart work hasn’t ended here though; the system will now also calculate the exact time until the driver arrives at the car park and starts up the BMW i3 so that it arrives at the car park exit at exactly the right time.
