Apple is fully prepared to follow the Japanese tradition of fukubukuro (“lucky bag”) on Jan. 2, 8 a.m. local time in Japan. On this occasion, the brick and mortar stores in the country announce heavy discounts on the sale of bags which are filled with unknown items. While we are sulking over this news, those in Japan are probably getting all pumped up with excitement for an amazing shopping spree.

The so called ‘fukubukuro’ event was quite a success last year and some shoppers had to pay only $345 in order to get one of the four variations of the Apple Lucky Bag containing items such as the iPod nano, iPad Air and MacBook Air. Items in the lucky bags varied but they all had a commemorative T-shirt, backpack and Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation Mini. The four different versions of the Apple Lucky Bag contained some amazing treats including Beats by Dre Pill Bluetooth speaker, Apple Magic Mouse, Nike+ FuelBand SE, Square Reader and JayBird BlueBuds X headphones.

Though people have to wait in lines outside the Apple store, they don’t usually end up getting what they had hoped for. However, they are sure still getting more than they had paid for. The prices have not yet been disclosed for the 2015 Apple Lucky Bag. Apple already has a Lucky Bag purchase policy page, and it says that these magic bags will only be available at Apple retail stores in Japan and one shopper can have only one lucky bag.
