McDonald’s America gave assistant manager Jose Hernandez a pair of Super Bowl XLIX tickets on Jan. 6 for his McDonald’s branch in Fort Lee, N.J. being named one of the Top 10 in Overall Customer Satisfaction.
McDonald’s has just awarded one of its employees a pair of tickets to Super Bowl XLIX.
The lucky recipient is assistant manager Jose Hernandez of McDonald’s Fort Lee, N.J. branch, per McDonald’s New York Tri-State Restaurants (via CBS8.com). Hernandez got the nod because his branch was named Top 10 in Overall Customer Satisfaction by McDonald’s USA. Hernandez is in his fourth year working for the restaurant.
According to the New York Tri-State Restaurants update, Hernandez and 10 other McDonald’s employees were randomly included in a draw. Among the prizes were the Super Bowl tickets, XBOX One Entertainment Systems and Madden NFL 15 games.
Hernandez said, “I can’t even explain how excited I am to be going to the Super Bowl, especially being a football fan. It’s like a dream come true.”
McDonald’s Fort Lee owner Doug Damiano also received an unspecified award from McDonald’s America for his branch’s achievement. He commended his employees for bringing recognition to his McDonald’s restaurant and being a the forefront of outstanding customer service, per New York Tri-State Restaurants. He quipped,”We’re very proud and pleased to host this event. We could not give the level of service that our customers expect without the help of our outstanding employees.”
During the program honoring Hernandez, 2014 “Amateur Night at the Apollo” winner Sung Lee did a beatbox number. A live DJ was also on hand as was Senator Loretta Weinberg, who “presented Damiano with a ceremonial proclamation from the State Senate honoring the significant achievements of his restaurant team,” per the New York Tri-State Restaurants article.
Among the other local community leaders who were present were Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, New Jersey State Assemblyman Gordon Johnson and Fort Lee Councilman Harvey Sohmer.
McDonald’s broke out a new brand vision and a new campaign on Jan. 5. “At the core of the campaign is the idea to spread more love and positivity into the QSR’s giant marketing and advertising programs,” per Portada-Online.com.

This new vision coincides with a point in time when McDonald’s sales is going through a steep decline. As a matter of fact, they have yet to take off since Oct. 2013. The Portada-Online.com update also says the company’s client base is fast becoming more “ecologically-minded.”
In a Jan. 2 press release on McDonalds.com, chief marketing officer Deborah Wahl declared the thrust of this new campaign is the word “lovin'” from its “I’m lovin’ it” slogan. By doing so, the company predicts this wil affect everything it does — from advertising to social media — from now on.
The press release explains why, when and how McDonald’s tweaked its brand vision:
“We recognize, and our customers, do, too, all the negativity that surrounds daily life and we are choosing to celebrate lovin’ more. McDonald’s is in a unique position to use its scale to bring back the positivity with more uplifting content and conversations in the lovin’ spirit.
“McDonald’s legacy was built on providing special moments for families. Today we’re working harder than ever to evolve with our customers. We’re moving from a philosophy of ‘billions served’ to ‘billions heard.’
“Our brand’s renewed focus on lovin’ will come to life in ways that inspire people to recognize and celebrate the lovin’ they share with each other every day.”
