Super Bowl 2015 7-Day Transit Pass Available for $25

Valley Metro, the Phoenix area’s public transport authority, has released a seven-day transit pass for Super Bowl XLIX worth $25.

If you’re going to Glendale, Ariz. to watch Super Bowl XLIX, you can avail of a seven-day transit pass to make things easier.

Valley Metro, Phoenix’s public transport authority, released the transit pass this week. According to The Arizona Republic’s Troy Lopez, it is worth $25 and will give visitors “access to bus and lightrail services for seven consecutive days.” He stresses it is meant to “streamline the boarding process.”

Lopez enuerates the items included in the pass:

• A souvenir lanyard 
• A transit guide with maps 
• A list of destinations

In light of the big game on Feb. 1, Valley Metro will extend its hours. Lopez says light rail services will be available until 2 a.m. on Jan. 28 and Jan. 29. It is already operational on weekends. As for bus services, they will be enhanced accordingly during the days leading up to Super Bowl XLIX.

Lopez interviewed Valley Metro spokeswoman Susan Tierney, who said they have everything in place:

“Valley Metro has a lot of experience working to provide service for special events in downtown Phoenix. We’ve been working with the NFL and working with (the) city of Phoenix and working with all the partners to make sure that we’re going to provide enough service that people who want to come downtown to the activities have a very good experience.

“We’re working with the neighborhood associations so that we havec communication going out so they know what’s going on…and feel like they’re part of the party.”

Valley Metro certainly will have its work cut out for it.

Lopez points out a 1 million turnout is expected for Super Bowl XLIX festivities. Among the main attractions are the NFL Experience and Super Bowl Central which will cover 12 blocks in the Phoenix metro area. 

Because of the large number of visitors, Lopez says Valley Metro will put up additional park-and-rides along the transit system. More station ambassadors will also be deployed to provide assistance. 

In other news, Grammy winner and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Grandmaster Flash will be the main attraction in Moves Magazine’s Super Bowl Kick-Off Party at Scottsdale’s Hotel Valley Ho on Jan. 28, per a press release from the magazine’s official website. 

The event will also be the launch of MovesMagazine.com. The magazine’s CEO and publisher, Jay Levy, said in the press release the presence of a celebrity of Grandmaster Flash’s magnitude will amp things up a lot more:

“Moves has had a decade-long tradition of kicking off the Super Bowl festivities with a party on Wednesday night that people talked about all week. We are taking that to the next level with the legendary Grandmaster Flash and other surprises that will put this party in a category by itself.”

The press release also describes the vibe of the event:

“Moves Editor-in-Chief Kelli Fabian said the vibe for the bash will be a chic, intelligent throwback to the decadence of the 80s, the heyday of Studio 54 and the renegade artistic spirit of Warhol and Basquiat. New York-based creative juggernaut Dimitri Falk will oversee the experential design and atmospherics reflective of the Moves brand, providing a provocative look inside the celebrity culture of sports and entertainment.”

Former Tampa Bay Buccanners player Simeon Rice will co-host the event with a still unnamed female celebrity, per MovesMagazine.com.
