GM’s Chevy Bolt electric vehicle expected in 2017

The Bolt can travel 200 miles on a single charge (the 2013/2014 Volt can only last 38 miles on a charge) and will be priced at $30,000

From what we can see and from what The Wall Street Journal wants us to believe, General Motors is once again competing head on with Tesla with its new electric vehicle called Chevy Bolt. Though we haven’t heard anything officially from the automaker itself but we can rely on the publication which says that the Bolt is going to have the ability to travel 200 miles on a single charge (the 2013/2014 Volt can only last 38 miles on a charge) . Unfortunately, the wait is a bit too long since we are going to see the car become functional in 2017 when it will be available for sale for $30,000.

With all these features and the pricing label, we can see what GM has done there. Of course, it is directly competing with Tesla’s Model 3 which is not surprising at all. Tesla’s Model 3 is also placed under the same pricing tag and more or less has the same specs. In addition to this, the WSJ has also revealed that the vehicle is going to “be designed to look more like a so-called crossover vehicle” and it will use a battery manufactured by LG Chem Ltd. in South Korea.

We first heard of GM’s new EV back in 2014 when the company filed a trademark application for “Chevrolet Bolt” and “Bolt.” The existence of this car hasn’t been commented on by GM itself but from what we are hearing from the sources, the company might reveal its Bolt concept on Monday at the Detroit Auto Show.
