Apple Watch Ads Ready To Hit Your Wrist

The Apple Watch is not released yet, but the first advertisers are ready to take over your wrist with ads.

The Apple Watch is rumored to be released in March. Here is something to spoil your enthusiasm for the Apple Watch – Wrist Ads. Marsh Supermarkets is one of the first companies that revealed plans to advertise on the Apple Watch. Headquartered in Indianapolis, Marsh operates 63 Marsh Supermarkets and 3 O’Malia’s Food Markets in Indiana and Ohio. Marsh Supermarket is also the largest pharmacy chain based in the state of Indiana with 41 pharmacy locations. 

Marsh Supermarkets has revealed that it installed iBeacons in all of its stores. These iBeacons will trigger wrist ads once you walk into a Marsh Supermarket with your Apple Watch. So far the iBeacon ads only work with mobile phones. To see the ad you had to take out the phone and actively look at it. The wrist ad is just a glance away.

Adweek carries this statement from the CEO of inMarket, Todd Dipaola, whose platform is powering the in store advertising: “If you look at that situation when you’re running through a store, how much more convenient is it to have a hands-free option to see what you’re making for dinner or understand what the deals are when you’re in-store?”

When you just about to grab a milk bottle your Apple Watch vibrates and you get distracted with what is on sale in the store. This actually is going to work great for advertisers, but this can quickly become very annoying for Apple Watch users.
