Hoping for four days on standby mode
As the Apple Watch starts to come near its expected release date of March 2015, consumers are more and more wanting to know just what the logistics will be of the new smartwatch. It is known that the Apple Watch will run on a Apple S1 Chip which is one very similar to the A5 processor that runs the iPod Touch and that it will also have a high resolution Retina class display screen. With that being said, one would expect a very good battery to keep the Apple Watch powered. Apple is currently doing testing on the Apple Watch battery and the company is hoping that it will be one that will give the watch optimal battery life.
Sources have said that the targets that Apple has for the Apple Watch battery are up to four hours of active use, up to 19 hours of active and passive use, and up to four days in sleep mode. Apple has been doing stress tests on the Apple Watch battery and they are targeting 2.5 hours of battery life for heavy gaming and about 3.5 hours of battery life for standard app usage. This testing has also been able to determine that if the watch stays in the timepiece and face mode that the battery will last for about three hours.
These same sources have also been saying that the battery has been the main reason for the delay in the releasing of the Apple Watch to the consumer market. Apple developers and engineers have also been working on the MagSafe battery charging element for the Apple Watch and they are hoping to have that perfected by the time of the release date. This charger is stainless steel and Apple is hoping to have that ready for the release and that it would come included with the Apple Watch. Sources also say that the MagSafe charger will come in steel and plastic versions just as the Apple Watch Sport will come in stainless steel and plastic versions.
