Last night in an unexpected move Drake shocked his fans when he released an art film and then a mixtape after 6 years on the internet.
The name Drake is synonymous to multiplatinum hit singer and rapper. Last night the Canadian artist surprised the internet when he released a 15 minutes Art film entitled ‘Jungle’ on his website. The short film has an eerie feeling and follows Drake around Toronto while he ponders and hangs around with his friends.
The film starts with Drake climbing into his car to get away from the clicking cameras of paparazzi and coveys his frustration to his driver by stating ‘the energy is out there changing’. The short film is seemingly pointless but the perfect embodiment of Drake, as viewers catch a glimpse into his personal life.
We see him daydreaming on the streets, in hotel room staring at skyscrapers and visiting clubs, with a few flashback clips to his first rapping attempts. The theme of the film is dark and undeniably amazing as it delivers the quintessential angst of Drake.
After the illumination of the film it literally owned the internet, stealing the spotlight from all the celebs currently trying for attention. The video is probably the most earnest view of the human side of Drake and relates the fears and internal troubles of an artist with exceptional emotion to the viewer.
The unexpected delivery of the short film made a few fans suspicious that something even bigger was yet to come from Drake, and they were not kept in suspense for long. In a surprise and totally unpredictable move Drake brought his second mixtape on the loose via his Twitter page and set the internet on fire.
The mixtape is called ‘”If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late” and was issued just before midnight. The new tape is a 17 track collection, featuring collaborations with several artists including Lil Wayne, Party Next Door and Travis Scott. The mixtape is available on iTunes for $12.99.

Six years ago in 2009 Drake released a mixtape ‘So Far Gone’ and ‘If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late’ is also released on the very same day. The revelation is a pleasant shock for fans and a great tactic for keeping hype alive until the release of his fourth studio album ‘Views from the 6’. If Drake keeps coming up with such moves will be internet be able to handle it?
