Random House to publish a new Dr. Seuss book based on recently discovered sketches and manuscripts. This new book will be released on July 28.
We all know our beloved Dr. Seuss and his adventures spanned across a huge variety of children books across decades. Ted Gisele wrote over 50 Dr. Seuss books featuring the famous red and white stripped cat. It has been adapted into feature and animation films as well. It was of course a great loss for children worldwide when the great author, artist and pioneer passed away in 1991.
Audrey Gisele was cleaning up her house after her husband’s death and she put away a box of her husband’s work and forgot all about it. 22 years later, Gisele and her friend and Ted’s former assistant Claudia Prescott were cleaning his office when they came across the box once more and what did they find?
A collection of sketches with accompanying manuscripts that he might have worked on before his death. According to Audrey, he started multiple projects at once and it was surprising to have found his undiscovered work at their home in La Jolla, California. Susan Brandt, president of licensing and marketing of Dr. Seuss Enterprises expressed her surprise at the discovery of the work and is thrilled by the concept of newer work.
This is the greatest news for Seuss fans. Random House decided to take the collection and compile it. Cathy Goldsmith has predicted that Gisele might have made the sketches between 1958 and 1962. The compilation has formed the newest book Dr Seuss: What Pet Should I Get.
The book will feature the same characters in1960 classic One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. The book will be released by Random House Children’s Books on July 28 as announced by the publishers this Wednesday. Audrey expressed how heart warming it was that the book was being published 25 years after his last book was published.
This will not be the only book that the publishers will be compiling from his work. Two more books will also be published. La Jolla museum will be featuring this new found artwork.
