Tinder is Indeed big in Sochi Olympics

Dating app Tinder is seeing huge usage spike in Sochi.

The first week of the Winter Olympics 2014 in Sochi is behind us. Early on the dating app Tinder was a big winner of the Olympics in terms of free PR. Thanks to snowboarder Jamie Anderson, who told US Weekly after her gold medal win that “Tinder in the Olympic Village is next level. It’s all athletes! In the mountain village it’s all athletes. It’s hilarious. There are some cuties on there.” 

Now we also got official word from the Tinder people that indeed there is a huge usage spike in Sochi. Tinder’s Sean Rad told the Wall Street Journal that the app saw a 400% day-over-day increase of new users located in Sochi. The numbers are now in the thousands. Of course the users are not just athletes. In Sochi are now also lots of support personal, media, officials and also sport fans.
