HTC One M8 to Be Replaced by One M8s

The One M8s is going to have a new midrange Snapdragon 615 instead

It has only been a year since HTC’s One M8 has been on the market and the company is already deciding to take it off. According to recent reports, the company is no longer to sell the One M8 flagship from last year but the M8 is definitely not being taken off the rack completely because HTC has something else in its place.

Anyone interested in the M8 make can still get the HTC One M8s which is almost the same as the One M8 apart from a few differences. The chipset is apparently the most prominent change in the M8s; the One M8 shipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC which, up until last year was Qualcomm’s top most chip offering, and the M8s has a midrange Snapdragon 615.

This 64-bit 615 has an octa-core CPU which boasts four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.7 GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1 GHz. We might be able to recall the One M8s but we have surely come across it in numerous news feeds as it has been rumored and leaked extensively but under the name of One M8i. HTC might have changed its decision and decided to go with ‘s’ instead of an ‘i’.

The dropping in of the HTC One M8 is news as it comes straight from the company’s Benelux arm in Europe. At least we can say this with complete certainty for the markets in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg that the HTC One M8 is being replaced by the One M8s and eventually this is expected to be seen in other markets around the world.

According to HTC Benelux’s director Mark Moons, the company had required this change in the chipset in order to keep selling the One M8s while also stating that the Snapdragon 615 was the newer part of the phone. The HTC One M8 is going to cost around €250, but the exact date for the swap remains unknown.
