Peter Dundas has previously also worked for Roberto Cavalli from 2002 to 2005.
Peter Dundas the Norwegian born designer has been named as the new creative director of Roberto Cavalli as the company announced today. Since a long time now rumors have it that Peter Dundas would be the one that will get selected for the post at Roberto Cavalli. Peter Dundas has also worked for the company previously from 2002 to 2005.
Before this Peter Dundas had been working for as the creative director of Emilio Pucci since 2008. The Milan Fashion Week was said to be his last show and it turned out to be true. The show featured a parade of models that had embodied Peter Dundas’s Pucci over the years and an invitation read “with gratitude to Peter Dundas” and a bow at which the designer brought out his studio in order for them to be recognized as well.
However the owner of Emilio Pucci, LVMH did not confirm nor deny whether Peter Dundas would be leaving the company as its creative director. Even after Roberto Cavalli announced the signing of Peter Dundas, the Emilio Pucci Company did not issue any statement about who would take over the position leftover by Mr. Dundas.
Now at Robert Cavalli Peter Dundas will be taking care of the women’s wear, men’s wear and accessories, according to NYTimes. Apart from this Peter Dundas will also be overseeing its licenses, communications and marketing.
A statement issued by the company stated that the roles taken over by Mr. Dundas would basically give him the opportunity to reposition the house established by Roberto Cavalli in the early 1970s. Mr. Cavalli himself too was in charge of creative design alongside with his wife and collaborator Eva.
The company also stated that the role of the couple now would be to handle the brand roots and original style. It is these roots and original style that has made the company so successful in such a competitive world of fashion. The company also stated that the couple will also take care and help the transition toward the future.
The company had announced way back in December that they were involved in exclusive talks with an Italian private equity firm, Clessidra SGR. These talks were being held in reference to the sale of a majority stake in the company. Rumors had it that the company would reach a result with the talks within March but there was no comment on this issue from anyone in the company.
