The new automotive interface will begin with Volvo, Ferrari and Mercedes
Good news for the owners of Volvo, Ferrari and Mercedes, the Apple iOS is finally coming to their cars. We first heard about the concept of this automotive interface a year back in June last year and a lot of time has passed since then and it still isn’t ready even though the relevant code is present in the recent iOS 7 builds.
The Financial Times might have some good news for us and the wait might finally be coming to an end soon enough because it is most likely that Apple will unveil the formal car integration deals with Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz and Volvo as soon as next week. We have got no more details on this as yet but there has been a rumored announcement which indicates that the automakers could name compatible models and possibly show the technology in action soon enough.
It will not be right to call this system as Apple’s first in-car operating system like the Financial Times have done because it still is dependent on the iPhone or the iPad to function.
