Buyers will have to buy an official Apple Watch pairing upon launch
We have all been quite happy about the fact that the upcoming Apple Watch is going to have a wide variety of bands and straps which we can choose from and thanks to the third party offerings, the list will go on and on. However, the stage hasn’t been set for us to play around for these combinations and the Apple Watch will only be available in the official pairings when it launches in April. It has been confirmed by iMore that the pairings shown in the Apple Store previews will be the only ones available on the launch date.
Though the third party offerings are open to all potential Apple Watch buyers, Apple has remained quite firm about its stance on the situation which clearly states that you will have to purchase the Apple Watch with its off the shelf pairing and you can later change the straps and bands according to your will.
Regardless of all these clarifications, the situation still seems to be quite confusing and we are hoping this stance would most likely ease out as time passes. It is reasonable to believe that Apple would want to avoid all sorts of complications on the launch day because this would also keep away unwanted complications in the supply chains and the retail outlets.
The slightly disappointing news is that if you already don’t like an existing official pair of an Apple Watch, you will have to buy a separate band of your choice later on and then you will be left with an unwanted spare band. Pre orders for the Apple Watch will begin on April 10th and the shipping starts from April 24th which is the official launch date. The in-store option is also available and Apple will start offering viewings starting from April 10th.
