Samsung does its own drop tests for the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge

The results show the phones will survive a reasonable drop without any damage

Samsung’s latest Galaxy S6 models don’t seem to be enjoying a peaceful time; the phone was first targeted by the bending/breaking issue and proved to be worse than Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus’ bendgate issue and then it scored the lowest on a third party repairability test. Looks like this was the right time for the Korean giant to prove something. Whether or not the majority believes in the reliability of tests taken by the manufacturers themselves, Samsung has released a video of its own drop tests. And just like we expected, both the models of the S6 genre sailed through with hardly a scratch.

The drop tests have gained a lot of interest since both the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge have glass backs which do appear to be fragile to the eye. The Galaxy S6 Edge particularly has raised more concerns about being dropped because it has a display which curves to the edges of the phone and this could mean disaster if the phone falls to the floor on the edge side.

Samsung has tried to settle down these concerns by assuring that the bodies of both the models have been safely housed between Gorilla Glass 4 which is categorized as the strongest glass type out there. The video obviously considers a drop to the flat surface/floor and not some crazy possibilities such as an edgy rock but in the former scenario the phone seems to be in a pretty good shape after being dropped to a reasonable height.

The concerns about the edges have also been taken care of and Samsung claims that much of the shock to the phone is first absorbed by 6013 aluminum frame and hence the smartphone’s display is pretty secure in an edge-first drop.
