AC/DC rocked and conquered the 2015 Coachella music festival!
AC/DC performed for the first time at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. After performing their hit ‘Thunderstruck’ on Friday, Brian Johnson told Billboard the band jumped right in the performance in front of tens of thousands of fans.
Coachella has never had an old school metal band perform before and has relied heavily on indie bands. The festival was definitely new ground for the hard core Australian rockers of AC/DC and even Johnson had seemed nervous at first when he announced on stage his hope they all like rock because that’s all the band knows.
The rock and roll was more than enough to entertain the crowd at Coachella for many hours. The performance was not filled with sweet and pleasing lyrics but was an all-out epic rock assault which rang all over the festival to the immense pleasure of the crowd.
The band played two other of its classical rock songs ‘Back In Black’ and ‘Shoot To Thrill’ in addition to ‘Thunderstruck’. The old favorites were a hit with the crowd which remained enchanted throughout the entire three song set performance by AC/DC.
It is notable the band did not perform any songs from its later albums but stuck to the glory days of the late 70’s when rock and roll was still alive.
Guitarist Angus Young made sure no one forgets he is one of the greatest guitarists of this generation and undeniably shot up to the guitar heroes in the history of the Coachella festival.
Johnson as is his trademark as a showman swung all over the stage on a giant rope and proved his enthusiasm is still as iconic as his songs. The performance was the perfect blend of Coachella with hard core rock as AC/DC gave enraptured a crowd which was not in their niche.
