Matthew Vaughn is currently in negotiations to create a version of Flash Gordon for the big screen. Let’s hope he succeeds in his ambition.

The movie Flash Gordon is to be based on the comic strip bearing the same name. Will Matthew Vaughn be the guardian of the multiverse? Well, it depends on a lot of things converging to make that fantasy a reality.

Matthew Vaughn has recently made a movie titled Kingsman: The Secret Service, which is most successful film till date. Matthew Vaughn has also directed “Kick Ass” and “X-Men: First Class”.

But Vaughn is not one to rest on his laurels. He is a very able and competent director. According to THR, he is currently in talks with 20th Century Fox to direct Flash Gordon. This movie beckons as Twentieth Century Fox gets ready to do a silver screen version of the comic book hero.

The enterprise picked up the rights to the storyline concerning Flash Gordon about 365 days ago. Alex Raymond, the artist and writer responsible for forming the character from scratch in the mid 1930s was an icon in his own right.

Flash Gordon alongside his lover Dale Arden and the kooky lab assistant Hans find themselves on the planet Mongo where they battle the evil personality, Ming the Merciless.

The 80s movie with the Queen (think Freddy Mercury) soundtrack was a bit on the corny side. But what will get made today will be a far cry from the puerile fare of those Reaganite days.

It will have special effects the likes of which have never been seen before. Stay tuned for an episode of Flash Gordon which will be flashing on theater screens in the near future.
