A new report says that Apple tries to get major music labels to kill Spotify’s free streaming service option ahead of Beats Music service relaunch.
Apple is not a fan of free. Apple’s upcoming music streaming service based Beats Music is likely not going to offer a free tier. According to multiple sources of The Verge, Apple is trying to push major music labels to kill the free streaming offers of Spotify and others.
The report also says that the Department of Justice is already looking into these allegations. Most of Spotify’s users are not paying for the service and endure the commercials. If free music streaming options would vanish a lot of consumers might switch to the new Apple Beats Music service. It is expected that Apple will launch the Beats Music Service, if it is going to be called that, at the WWDC 2015 in June.
To make money from streaming is difficult with freemium options on the market. Apple is all about healthy profit margins. This will likely mean that Apple’s streaming service is going to cost consumers a significant fee. Apple will try to win consumers through ease of use, convenience and exclusive content.
The new Music app for iOS 8.4 has already been revealed in developer beta versions last month.
