  • Dwayne Schmidt’s Photo of Twosome About to Marry Goes Viral

The North Carolina photographer, Dwayne Schmidt’s photo of a twosome who are about to marry and share some private time praying to God for their marriage to prosper went viral on the Internet.

He is a shutterbug par excellence. Dwayne Schmidt has been known to take brilliant and poignant photographs with his camera and preserve them to serve as memorable moments in the lives of the married individuals who are shown in them. Recently he took a very touching picture of U.S. Marine Caleb Earwood and his wife-to-be Maggie, just moments before they went through their marriage ceremony.

Since Caleb was a devout Christian and his wife was one too, they decided to pray and lend solace and comfort to each other before the event. As is visible in the photo, Maggie is on one side of the divide between a door to a room while Caleb is adjacent to it and not facing his wife-to-be. He is holding her hand and she is crying while he prays with devotion and dedication. The photographer, Dwayne Schmidt started crying too while he was seeing this moving scene of love and affection.

Caleb and Maggie spent much of their high school years together. They began dating two years ago. And now they have decided to become man and wife. They lived in Ashville but Caleb will take his beautiful bride to Jacksonville for the honeymoon and the two will live their happily ever after.

According to Caleb, he wanted their marriage to be built on solid ground that no force on earth could tear apart. And so he took the vital decision to pray in all sincerity before the ceremony got started. He didn’t face his wife since the rules said that the two shouldn’t see each there before the wedding ceremony. Thus he just held her hand while looking the other way.

“We were about to take our first steps in life together, and we didn’t want to take a step without it being in God’s will,” Caleb Earwood told Today.com. “I prayed to God for my beautiful and intelligent wife that he blessed me with and the amazing family I was marrying into.”

The pic of the two, bride and bridegroom, in the anguish and angst of true supplication before their Creator is an image that has gone viral on the Internet. According to Dwayne, there was not a single eye in that room when he took the pic that was not filled with tears.

“As soon as their hands touched he started getting emotional,” Schmidt told ABC News. “The whole room was full of emotion. I tried not to cry and focus on what I was doing.”

As for Maggie, she was so affected by the very fact that Caleb had chosen to beseech God before marrying her, that her bond with him was strengthened even more so.

“When I first grabbed his hand, he was shaking really bad, so I knew he was really nervous,” Maggie said. “It relieved me to know the person I was getting ready to marry felt the same way about God.”

“So many people are emailing me,” Schmidt said, “saying thank you for sharing this. It’s what America is supposed to be about.”
