Adobe Debuts Document Cloud with New Acrobat Reader

Adobe

Adobe is reinforcing its commitment to the cloud by announcing a new product that aims to modernize how we manage documents across devices. Document Cloud is the latest addition to the company’s cloud-based services, namely, Creative Cloud and Marketing Cloud. Adobe says that its Document Cloud service will solve the inefficiencies associated with document processes.

The practical applications of Document Cloud include creating permission slips and business forms—documents that need to be signed. Customers can sign documents on the fly, speeding up document workflows and processes. Adobe is also announcing a new Acrobat reader, which now supports touch on mobile devices. The new Adobe Acrobat DC lets users rotate pages and browse PDFs in a swipe.

But the main selling point of Document Cloud and its new Acrobat DC reader is its capability to sign documents on the fly. Adobe says that e-signing is the core feature of Acrobat DC. In addition, Adobe DC now opens scanned images automatically while using state-of-the-art image processing techniques to transform files into optimized digital documents that can be edited anytime. A new Tool Center and Home Screen have been added to improve the user experience.

According to Jon Perera, vice president of product management at Adobe, 98 percent of contracts in North America are still done on paper and adoption of e-signatures are around 4 percent. He believes that Document Cloud will revolutionize how we do business. Adobe’s latest study reveals that around 83 percent of workers said that their productivity declined when using outdated methods in handling documents. Indeed, Adobe is rethinking the way we work with documents.
