Alaska is the third major state ready to legalize marijuana for recreational purposes. Marijuana legalization is about to take place in the ice cold state and has been put to the vote. If enough votes are given in favor of this relaxation in drug policy, the soft-core intoxicant could be freely available before the elections.

After Colorado and Washington announced the freedom to smoke marijuana for its relaxing effects, Alaska is about to follow suit. About 30,000 signatures supporting the move have been collected by the campaigners. The goal is 46,000 signatures and when that objective is reached, the law will allow its usage for recreation.

The Ogden Nash quip on words which went: “Candy is dandy, Liquor is Quicker, Pot is Not” will have to be changed to “Pot is Hot!” The citizens of Alaska have had enough of the unnecessary restrictions. The movement for marijuana legalization is picking up speed and it will be a success soon.

The next two months are crucial for passing the bill for the pro-marijuana lobby. The quantity that someone could possess was reduced from four ounces to one ounce. Well, something is better than nothing. However, the loopholes within the law are quite a complex matter. It will take some elbow grease before the law is finalized and properly implemented.

Smoking pot in public will still be an offense punishable by a hefty fine. And the age of usage is 21 years and older. So teens are strictly off limits. And last but not least, users of the drug won’t be allowed to light a toke on office premises.
