In order to compete with General Motors Co. 2015 Chevrolet, Toyota Motor Corp is introducing a new version of its mid sized pick-up track called Tacoma at NAIAS.

On Thursday, Toyota announced that the company will be unveiling an all new Tacoma pickup truck in the coming January at the International Auto show held in North America.  The company is hoping to dazzle the mid size pickup truck market with its new Tacoma pickup truck.

The senior vice president of Toyota, Bob Carter said that this new version of Tacoma has significant upgrades as compared to its previous version. In addition to this, he said that Lexus will also be introducing two new performance vehicles at the Detroit auto Show. However, when he was inquired more regarding Tacoma he refused to comment.

Chrysler, General  Motors and Ford /4/dominate the sales of full size pickups, but it is Toyota who is the leader of mid size pickup trucks. During an interview the Vice president of the Toyota division group, Bill Fay said that the Toyota is famous for its mid size pickup trucks.

He then said that Toyota has been in the game for many years and it has been a dominant player. The company has a very happy and content owner group, according to Fay. The production is rumored to be ramped up in the coming April at factory  situated in Mexico, America. This factory builds Tacoma.

The all new Tacoma’s competitor GM’s Colorado won the annual  award of Motor Trend this year and the award has boosted its sales.  GM executive vice president for global product development, Mark Reuss said that Chevrolet is planning to target customers in California in order to compete with Nissan and Toyota. He also said that the company is already getting buyers from the other brands.

Toyota produces Tacoma in Mexico, Baja California, Texas and San Antonio and the company is planning to add more workers to its Baja plant in April. Group Vice president and general manager of Toyota, Bill Fay said it’s time that the company expands their category.  The day after Motor Trend announced the Chevrolet Colorado mid size pickups as its Truck of the year, Toyota decided to overhaul its Tacoma.

GM’s previous version of GM Colorado was less expensive as compared to the new version. During an interview Chevy’s chief marketing officer, Tim Mahoney said that the company is planning to sell most of its trucks for more than $30,000. However, Toyota doesn’t have to worry about losing its buyers to GM brand. The company does not see much cross shopping between itself and Chevy, according to Carter. He then said that the company is more concerned about Ford.

Toyota was able to sell almost 140,757 Tacomas in United States through November. The sales of Toyota dropped by 4.1 percent compared to last year. Nissan on the other hand managed to sell 68,263 Frontiers in the United States in this year. Nissan sales increased by 18.9 percent from last year.
