Amanda Seyfried also joined the long list of Hollywood actors who are going to appear in a marathon stage play that will take place on November 17th. Peter Dinklage, Melanie Griffith, Taran Killam, Zoe Kravitz, Nina Dobrev and many more signed up for the 14th annual performance of “The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway” that will raise money for Urban Arts Partnership.
Amanda Seyfried is the 24th name on the list of those actors who are taking part in an annual marathon stage play that has taken place every year since the past 13 years. Titled “The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway,” this year’s stage play will help raise money for Urban Arts Partnership which supports New York City’s public schools to spread arts education.
According to MCall, the 14th annual performance of “The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway” benefit will be held on November 17, 2014. And the long list of two dozen actors include; Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Alexander, Uzo Aduba, Jamie Chung, Billy Crudup, Peter Dinklage, Rachel Dratch, Nina Dobrev, Michael Ealy, Seth Green, Bryan Greenberg, Melanie Griffith, Taran Killam, Zoe Kravitz, Justin Long, Aasif Mandvi, Stephen Merchant, Diane Neal, Rosie Perez, Jay Pharoah, Pablo Schreiber, Sebastian Stan, Julia Stiles, Tracie Thoms and Michael Kenneth Williams.
Basically, “The 24 Hour Plays on Broadway” is called an “extreme rite of theater”. And in this marathon stage play, all the actors, writers and directors have to perform 6 original short plays in a time span of 24 hours. And this year, 24 actors, 6 writers, 6 directors and musical guests along with production staff will take part in the marathon stage play on November 16 at 10 a.m. at New York City’s American Airlines Theatre, 227 W. 42nd Street.
“After each actor shares a costume, prop and special skill, their assigned writer must create a 10-minute play by 7 a.m. the following day. Directors return to read and select their piece and meet with their cast for the first time by 9 a.m. The plays will be performed in front of a live audience at 8 p.m. And it is interspersed with six musical acts,” according to MCall.
Andra Day and Bryan Terrell Clark, and DJ Samantha Ronson are the musical guests of this year while the directors include America Ferrera, Andy Fickman and Kathy Najimy. Christina Anderson, Bekah Brunstetter, David Cross, David Lindsay Abaire and Jonathan Marc Sherman are the 5 writers while the 6th writer is Sarwat Siddiqui who is also the the winner of the Young Writers Program.
Meanwhile Amanda Seyfried is currently working in Seth MacFarlane’s “Ted 2,” which is a sequel of Seth’s 2012 Ted movie that depicts a teddy bear. And Seyfried will also appear in the new Warner Brothers movie “Pan”, which is an adaptation of “Peter Pan,” as the mother of Wendy Darling and her two brothers.
Amanda Seyfried first appeared on the big screen in 2004 when she played a role in “Mean Girls.” After that, she worked in HBO’s famous polygamy series “Big Love.” But her main lead role was in the hit musical movie “Mamma Mia!” She worked in all types of films including romantic, comedy, drama, musical and even thriller movies. Her movie credits include “Dear John” , “Letters to Juliet” , “Gone” , “Red Riding Hood” , “The Big Wedding” , “Lovelace” and “Les Miserables.”
