3D is just the tip of the iceberg.

Amazon’s long-rumored smartphone made headlines (again) last week after BGR posted exclustive photos of the device on its website. Insider sources told the publication that Amazon’s first smartphone will feature six cameras that will support 3D technology.

Today, BGR is sharing key details about the phone’s software, which, if proven true, could help differentiate Amazon’s offering from the rest. Specifically, Amazon has developed a new technology that will allow its phones to navigate menus and apps through gestures, sources told BGR.

For example, tilting the phone up and down while reading a Kindle book will automatically scroll the page. Also, when the user tilts the phone when using the messaging app, a new panel will open to access the camera roll.

The same technology can be reportedly found when viewing products on Amazon.com. Tilting the phone will display different product views.

Amazon is taking this technology further by allowing the phone’s camera to recognize images or texts. Amazon’s custom software will automatically detect texts and convert them into, say, for example, notes or business cards. The phone can even translate foreign texts into English, sources added.
