AMC Theaters Calls FBI on Google Glass User

User claims Google Glass was off and he was questioned by officers for over an hour

A Google Glass user from Columbus, Ohio got more than he bargained for when he went into a AMC Theater at Easton mall with his wife reports The Gadgeteer. The man says that he and his wife go to the theater weekly and he has worn his Google Glass to the theater several times. The man says that the Glass he uses has prescription lenses.

The man says that while he and his wife were sitting in the theater watching the Jack Ryan film a person came to his seat, flashed a badge, and grabbed the Google Glass off his face telling him to follow them outside. The man complied and said outside the theater were 5-10 cops and mall cops.

The man says he asked to see the officer’s badge again and asked for his Google Glass back. The officer reportedly said he was with the “federal service” and told the man he had been caught illegally taping the movie. The Glass user says that the glasses were off and that the officers also took away both his phones and put him and his wife in separate rooms.

The man says that he and his wife were questioned by the officers for over an hour. He alleges that the officers told him he was not under arrest and could leave, but if he did bad things /4/happen. The Glass user said that he asked them repeatedly to hook the Glass to a computer and see that there is no footage of the film stored on the device. After an hour of questioning and prodding by the authorities, they finally hooked the Glass up and told the man he was free to go. The “Movie Association” reportedly gave the man free passes to see the film again.

It’s worth noting that wearing a device capable of recording a movie into the theater is a dumb move even if you aren’t recording. It’s also worth noting that no evidence that this happened actually exists.
