American Sniper Killer Eddie Ray Routh found Guilty

Eddie Ray Routh was found guilty for the murders of American Sniper Chris Kyle and his friend Chad Littlefield after a 9 day trial in Texas!

Eddie Ray Routh has been deemed guilty of capital murder on Tuesday by a jury verdict. The presiding judge of the Texas criminal justice system Jason Cashon read the verdict, while Routh stared straight at the judge’s bench and then condemned Routh to life in prison.  The jury consisted of ten women and 2 men and took about two hours to convict Routh and found him guilty for the murder of sniper Chris Kyle, 38, and Chad Littlefield, 35.

Routh 27 yrs. is a former Marine and Iraq War vet suffering from the PTSD (Post traumatic stress disorder) and was found guilty for shooting sniper Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield resulting in their deaths at the Forth North shooting range on the 2nd of February 2013. Routh’s life imprisonment is set without parole however he could appeal the verdict. 

Routh was established as guilty after a grueling nine day trial. Kyle’s wife Taya Kyle and Littlefield’s mother Judy Littlefield were also involved in the trial and gave testimonies. Certain graphic photos from the murder scene were also shown during the trial, along with the incriminating testimony from Routh himself.

In his testimony Routh confessed to shooting Kyle and Littlefield to the police on the day of the incident and also provides an insight into his mental state post military. After Routh had confessed the jurors only had to decide if he had intentionally or willingly killed Kyle and Littlefield or if Routh even knew what he was doing was wrong. 

The murder trial of Chris Kyle and Chad Littlefield has received widespread media attention as the film American Sniper depicting the life of Chris Kyle as a celebrated Iraq Navy SEAL sniper was nominated for an Oscar.

The film directed by Clint Eastwood was based on the book authored by Chris Kyle himself glorifying his exploits in the Iraq War. The film grossed more than $400 million at the domestic box office of USA.
