Scottish Tennis star Andy Murray comes out last minute with a Yes to Scottish Independence on Twitter.
Today Scotland is voting on the Scottish Independence. The polls are open until 22:00. The race is extremely close and there have been lots of undecided voters.
A Scottish (but also British) icon has come out this morning with a statement supporting an independent Scotland. Tennis star Andy Murray has not come out as strong as Mel Gibson in Braveheart, but he swung to a Yes Scotland Independence on Twitter.
Huge day for Scotland today! no campaign negativity last few days totally swayed my view on it. excited to see the outcome. lets do this!— Andy Murray (@andy_murray) September 18, 2014
Andy Murray has over 2.7m followers on Twitter. So he got the reach. Besides the British media is all over his Tweet. As close as this poll is a Tweet like that can be the deciding factor. The voting age has also been lowered for this historic decision. Andy Murray is an idol for many young Scots. All this factors also are reason for a lot of criticism for Murray’s decision to take sides this late in the game.
