Apple and Samsung came to a draw in the fight for sales, both shipments consisting of 7.5 million smartphones, with a record increase in Apple sales.
Overall on an average in the year 2014 Samsung reigned as the number on smartphone patron globally. However if recent statistical data is to be taken into consideration, Apple /4/have defeated the allegedly in disputed smartphone champion Samsung in the ring of smartphone sales.
According to recent statistics of smartphone sales released by Strategy Analytics, in the fourth quarter (Q4) of the year 2014, smartphone shipments grew by 31 percent. The most surprising move was played by Apple when its sales were calculated as equal to Samsung. It would be right to presume Apple stole the spotlight from Samsung in the fourth quarter of the year. As a consequence supposing Apple upstaged Samsung in sales is an accurate conclusion.
Is it possible to consider the reign of Samsung is at an end and Apple is ready to claim the smartphone throne as a sole leader?! If sales statistics are any indication then Yes!. Apple /4/very well be the new King of the Smartphone Business. A granted possibility if only the winning streak of Apple sales continues. Since Q4 in 2011 this is the first time the sales of Apple products was equivalent to Samsung sales again.
The reason for the massive increase in smartphone sales globally can be attributed to the growing demand of smartphone in developing markets such as China, India and Africa. Statistics have also revealed the insane popularity of the new iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus in mainly China, United States and Europe.
Another reason for the dwindling sales of Samsung products /4/be the increasing competition from up and coming companies such as Huawei and Xiaomi. Such comparatively smaller companies are proving to be a crucial challenge for Samsung in the sales arena. Challenges are rising in the form of identical smartphone sets with feature and apps similar to Samsung but at relatively low prices.
Other rival companies such as Blackberry, Lenovo and Motorola are presenting further obstacles for Samsung, as they are hot on its trail in sales. Especially Lenovo and Huawei are proving to be imposing threat after having secured the third and fourth position in the Q4 of 2014’s global market respectively.
In particular Apple shipped 7.5 million smartphones worldwide and secured 20 percent market share which is massive feat of record proportions. For now an 18 percent increase in sales since the previous year, is a strong reason for declaring Apple the smartphone champion by market experts. Samsung sadly seems to be on the losing team and /4/further go down in the game in 2015.
